The Balance of "Spirit and Nature"

“Awareness the silent and choiceless observation of what is”

Then there are the so-called saints, the religious gurus with their followers; they also want power, position, here or in the next life. It is a mad world, completely confused, in which the communist is fighting the capitalist, the socialist is resisting both, and everybody is against somebody, struggling to arrive at a safe place, a position of power or comfort. The world is torn by conflicting beliefs, by caste and class distinctions, by separative nationalities, by every form of stupidity and cruelty - and this is the world you are being educated to fit into. You are encouraged to fit into the framework of this disastrous society; your parents want you to do that, and you also want to fit in

Paths and movements cannot transport you into Reality, because their function is to enmesh you within the dimensions of knowledge, while the Reality prevails prior to it. To apprehend this, you must stay put at the source of your creation, at the beginning of the knowledge ‘I am’. So long as you do not achieve this, you will be entangled in the chains forged by your mind and get enmeshed in those of others - Nisargadatta

Yoga Nidra

Described as “dynamic sleep,” the Yoga Nidra practice allows the body to deeply relax while the mind stays inwardly alert. Swami Satyananda Saraswati, who pioneered the practice in the early 1950s from ancient Tantric texts, calls it “reaching the border between waking and sleeping states.” Western medicine would call it the confluence of alpha and delta brainwaves.

Requirement: empty stomach (stop eating a heavy meal 3 hours prior to session), wear loosely fitted clothing and bring your yoga mat.

Learn to let go of all the things collected in your body and mind.

Temple style Lomi Lomi Massage

Lomi lomi massage originated from Hawaii, it’s mainly praised for its healing properties. This massage is believed to be one of the most powerful massage techniques of healing touch and the relief of pain from the body.

This style of massage is known for it's very long, flowing, relaxing strokes mainly applied with the forearms and hands. The pressure can be varied to suit you. The strokes are applied over the body using heated oil and massaged in a wave like motion which at times runs over and under the body simultaneously.  It is blissfully relaxing for the whole body.

History of Lomi Lomi

The traditional intention of this massage was to honour the body as sacred. It is an art which was been passed down through practice and word of mouth for centuries. The specialists who held knowledge of the ancient healing arts were called Kahunas. It has always been a very intuitive practise which works with the Mana or powerful vital life force energy and recognises that this energy is affected by your breathing, your thoughts and actions, your environment and and the food you eat. Breathing techniques are included in Lomi Lomi massage.

Internal tai chi

"WHAT YOU PRACTICE, YOU BECOME"

About Tai Chi Tui Shou, or "Push Hands" exercises

Pushing hands is an exercise to develop Tai Chi skills

The Push Hands exercises also help us deal with fear in the use of Tai Chi as a martial art.
After achieving a state of deep relaxation in the Tai Chi form, students may try to bring that
calm feeling into the practice of push-hands, the two person Tai Chi exercise for the
development of martial sensitivity. Initially, this two person exercise can be extremely gentle,
allowing the practitioners to operate in the most relaxed and efficient manner. Sometimes
using the classical movements, sometimes in a freestyle manner, partners take turns searching
out points of tension on each other. When a point is found, the student must learn how to
relax the tense area in order to avoid losing balance. Over time, by learning correct and
effective ways of relaxing and moving, one is able to absorb sudden and forceful pushes
from one's partner with a minimum of tension and fear. The relaxed body aligns itself
automatically to retain balance. From “Song of Pushing Hands” (translated by Yang Jwing-Ming)

Tai chi push hands and basic self-defence for beginners and experienced men and women

Push hands and how to apply it as basic self-defence

"Though most people take up tai chi for the tremendous health benefits, others are intrigued by the fact the style is actually a highly-effective martial art. Emphasis is placed on cultivating “chi,” or internal energy, as opposed to simply developing muscle mass and brute force."

To know yourself, practice the form. To know others, practice push hands

Tai chi form can also be taught if requested

Beginners or experienced men or woman, all are welcome

"Our minds are conditioned – that is an obvious fact – conditioned by a particular culture or society, influenced by various impressions, by the strains and stresses of relationships, by economic, climatic, educational factors, by religious conformity and so on. Our minds are trained to accept fear and to escape, if we can, from that fear, never being able to resolve, totally and completely, the whole nature and structure of fear. So our first question is: can the mind, so heavily burdened, resolve completely, not only its conditioning, but also its fears? Because it is fear that makes us accept conditioning. "

- J. Krishnamurti

Naked l Yoga

Naked yoga (Sanskrit nagna yoga or vivastra yoga) is the practice of yoga without clothes. It has existed since ancient times as a spiritual practice, and is mentioned in the 7th-10th century Bhagavata Purana and by the Ancient Greek geographer Strabo.

For starters, naked yoga is exactly what it sounds, it is doing yoga naked without any clothes. It aims to develop a body-positive space where you stop being conscious about your body and instead focus on the natural you.

When you are not hiding behind layers of clothes, you tend to get comfortable with your body and become confident in your own skin. Whether it is your body hair, the skin texture, or the stretch marks, the inhibitions cease to exist. You finally understand how much your body really does for you and began to love it, in its entirety and not just in parts.

You forget that you are not wearing any clothes either. You begin to focus more on getting your postures and movements right. After all, going au naturel gives you freedom from the constraints of clothes.

Only in nakedness, Zhang says, can the body's "relationship with the spirit be identified through its direct contact with the object. " Zhang Huan

Birth, old age, sickness, and death are right there within you. I travelled all over until I was ready to drop dead from exhaustion. Only then, when I stopped, did I find what I was looking for ... inside me now."

Spiritual Minds

What are we seeking?
What is it that most of us are seeking? What is it that each one of us wants? Surely it is important to find out. Probably most of us are seeking some kind of happiness, some kind of peace; in a world that is ridden with turmoil, wars, contention, strife, we want a refuge where the can be some peace. I think that is what most of us want. So we pursue, go from one leader to another, from one religious organization to another, from one teacher to another.

Now, is it that we are seeking happiness or is it that we are seeking gratification of some kind from which we h ope to derive happiness? There is a difference between happiness and gratification. Can you seek happiness? Perhaps you can find gratification but surely you cannot find happiness? Happiness is derivative: it is a by-product of something else. So, before we give our minds and hearts to something which demands a great deal of earnestness, attention, thought, care, we must find out, must we not?, what it is that we are seeking; whether it is happiness, or gratification. I am afraid most of us are seeking gratification. We want to be gratified, we want to find a sense of fullness at the end of our search.J. Krishnamurti

We warned that one day you would not be able to control what you have created. That day is here. Not heeding warnings from both Nature and the People of the Earth keeps us on the path of self destruction. This self destructive path has led to the Fukushima nuclear crisis, Gulf oil spill, tar sands devastation, pipeline failures, impacts of carbon dioxide emissions and the destruction of ground water through hydraulic fracking, just to name a few. In addition, these activities and development continue to cause the deterioration and destruction of sacred places and sacred waters that are vital for Life.
